Sketch Saturday Challenge #265

There is a new sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday!  This week's sponsor is Milk Coffee, a new digi site for me.  Super cute images and we were given one to work with.  I chose Michelle in Hot Air Balloon.
Digital Stamp - Michelle in Hot Air Balloon
Really fun to play with and I thought it was perfect for this week's sketch too.  Here is Sketch #265 (designed by Jen):
I was going through my paper pads and found the most perfect paper pack in my stash by Doodlebug Designs "Flower Box".  I also used a couple dies I've had for quite some time.  The stitch sun and cloud are from Lil' Inkers Designs.  It is SO nice to finally use things.

I thought the sun and cloud were perfect for the upper embellishments and the flowers for the lower embellishment.
For the 3 strips across the bottom of the sketch, I used a PaperTrey Ink die "In the Meadow".  The flowers were cut free hand from the patterned paper.

Supplies --

Sketch Saturday Challenge #264

Today, we have a new Sketch Challenge at Sketch Saturday and it's Jen's birthday too!

Happy Birthday Jen!

Jen designs the majority of the sketches for the blog, so this week's challenge is to use your favorite of Jen's sketches #216 - 263.  You can see a lot of the sketches HERE - note that Jen's sketches are unlabeled.

The sponsor this week is Loves Rubber Stamps and prize is a $10 store voucher.

I chose Sketch #255:
The image I used today is a Nina B stamp, Chalkboard Birthday, available at The Craft's Meow.  I had to get it because I've been seeing this chalkboard technique everywhere!
First, I used Palette New Canvas ink and a sponge to create the used chalkboard look and heat set it.  Then, I stamped the Birthday sentiment with VersaMark ink added white embossing powder and heat embossed.  I ran the New Canvas ink pad along the edge of the image.

Supplies --

Patterned Paper: Pebbles Walnut Grove
Cardstock: PTI True Black, Kraft and Pure Poppy

The Crafts Meow - Natures Beauty

Today, I have the June card of encouragement for my homebound ministry.  I used a set I had for some time.  It is from The Craft's Meow and called Nature's Beauty, which I believe is retired.  I could not find it.  It is very possible I bought from the clearance section last summer.

I stamped the flowers 3 times, starting with the light blue, then green and lastly black.  I sponged some blue and green ink to fill in the gaps after I stamped the blue image.

Ink: PTI Spring Rain, Simply Chartreuse, True Black

Sketch Saturday Challenge #263

Today, is my second official post for the Sketch Saturday design team!  I'm loving it already.  :D  I used a ODB stamp set I just got too - what a concept using a stamp right away rather than a year later - LOL!

Sketch Saturday is a sketch blog, there's a new sketch challenge each Saturday.  I've been a follower for awhile and love the sketches.  Sketch Saturday Challenges are open to all images, all you have to do is follow the sketch.  Simple concept - Love it!

So here is Sketch #263 (designed by Jen):

This is my interpretation of the sketch:
The hexagon pattern is a patterned paper from My Mind's Eye "Be Amazing" paper pad.  I cut it free hand, following the pattern in the sketch.  The yellow gingham is also from the same MME paper pad.
Jen (sketch designer extraordinaire) had mentioned in our instructions she was thinking an image could be added to one side.  I chose an image from Our Daily Bread "Butterfly Branch".  I stamped the branch twice and cut out one branch, added some color.  The second image, I colored and cut out the butterflies to add dimension to the branch.

Supplies --
Stamps: Our Daily Bread "Butterfly Branch", Sentiment TAC
Patterned papers: My Mind's Eye "Be Amazing"
Cardstock: PTI Kraft, Bazzill Artesian Pool
Ink: Memento Black
Copic Colors: E40, E41, E43, E44, E47, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, RV23, RV25, RV29, BG10, BG56, BG57
Sewing machine with white thread
Darice black self adhesive gems

You can see all the creations by the design team HERE.  The sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs and the prize is 4 digi's!

Word Art Wednesday - Uplifting sentiment

Nina B - Chalkboard Birthday

Hi All,

I have a birthday card today.  I'm using a Nina B set "Chalkboard Birthday"  which is available through The Craft's Meow.

This is a really simple card.  I stamped the sentiment with PTI Vintage Cream ink, a pigment ink.  A great ink, it looks chalky and you can see I smeared it a bit, but I think that is OK considering I was going for a chalkboard look.

The patterned paper is from Pebbles "Walnut Grove".  Love the banner pattern.  Cardstock is PTI True Black, Kraft and Pure Poppy.  The Pure Poppy panel is popped and so is the chalkboard sentiment.  I added a twill loop accent to finish the card.

I made this card with several people in mind, a couple teachers and one childhood friend whom I played "school" with all the time. We had a black slate chalkboard in the basement.  A fun childhood memory. :)

Happy Birthday Debbie!  Your card is in the mail. :D

Challenges:
Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
CAS-ual Fridays - CAS and banners/flags
Fairy tale Challenge - Pennants

Taylored Expressions May Card Kit

Hi All,

Today, I have several cards I made with Taylored Expressions May Card Kit to share.  Here is the May stamp of the Month "Cute Pie".  A really cute set...here is --

I'm really loving these card kits.  I subscribe to the deluxe kit which comes with the stamp of the month, patterned paper pad, coordinating cardstock and ribbon.  The patterned paper pad for May is from Echo Park, "Sweet Girl".
This first one is a simple one, white on white with a few pops of color.  I love how the paper and stamps match, so that is how I chose the flower colors.  I stamped the flower with PTI Pure Poppy and then again with Memento Angel Pink.  The leaves are stamped with PTI Simply Chartreuse.  I cut out the flowers and leaves.
The flower and center are popped with the leaves behind.  I added a floral panel with sentiment and stitching.

The next card is a fun one.  I paired the close line paper with the clothes line image.  I did some paper piecing on this one.  The red panel is popped.  I've seen this on many blogs and I think it such a clean accent.
The third card is a really girly one.  The base card is PTI Sweet Blush cardstock.  I used a scalloped border from one of the patterns in the paper pad.
The dress is paper pieced.  The sentiment is cut from one of the papers in the paper pad.
The last card I created has an S-shaped front flap which was cut with a PTI die.  I stamped the other flower in the set with PTI Pure Poppy ink and cut them out.  I added pearls to the center and a cross stitch floss stem to each flower.

I really had fun playing with set over Memorial Day weekend and better yet I'm caught up on my kits - yay!  Waiting on the June kit to come. :D

Make it Monday - Anything Goes
Hobby House - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
Stampin' for the weekend - cute
Polkadoodles and Studio 12 - birthday card using scraps

Taylored Expressions April Card Kit

Today I have a few cards I created using Taylored Expressions April card kit.  I know I'm a little behind, but I'm hoping I will be back on track soon.
The April stamp of the month was "Simple Greetings".  The patterned paper in the kit was Fancy Pants Park Bench.  I love the colors of this paper pad.   Coordinating cardstock and ribbon came with the kit, however I used a couple other colors of cardstock, PTI Vintage Cream and Summer Sunrise.
The leaves were stamped on Vintage Ivory cardstock with VersaMagic Sea Breeze, flowers with PTI Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold.  I cut the flowers out by hand and added an amber gem to the center.  I also added some stitching with ivory thread.
For this second card, I stamped the leaves using PTI True Black ink.  The flower is stamped with VersaMagic Sea Breeze.  I added some stitching with black thread and black gems.
The last card is a simple one.  I used the gold and black cardstock and ribbon from the kit.  I used several punches a 1.75" and 2" dia circle die.  The gold punched layer was done using a 2.5" dia scalloped punch and double punching to create the pinking shears edge.  See this post where I show double punching to create a new shape.
